Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Jimmy Krueger

Coaching Career: 2015-16 will be Coach Krueger's 9th year with the Spartans and 7th as a Head Coach.  The Varsity team has successfully made it to the playoff each year he has been in charge.  They have also advanced as far as the Regional Quarterfinals over the past three years.  This most recent season was a record breaking year, which left them ranked 32nd in the nation.  They advanced to the Regional Tournament for the first time since joining 5A.  They also posted the best overall record in school history (21-2-4) and took home the first District Title since joining 5A. Throughout his career at Seven Lakes, Coach Krueger has worked with numerous players who are now playing at the collegiate level.  Since joining the staff, the Spartan Soccer Program has enjoyed an overall record of 231-80-65.
 
Playing Career: Coach Krueger grew up playing soccer in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He later moved to Katy and played for Katy High School, where he still remains one of the top goal scorers in Katy history. After a successful four years on Varsity, with numerous individual awards and a couple trips to the Regional Tournament, Coach Krueger went on to play at Midwestern State.  He led Midwestern two of the four years in goals scored, was elected All-Conference three times, and helped the Mustangs get to the National Tournament Elite 8 in two seasons.  The Mustangs went 56-15-6 during his 4 years.  Coach Krueger also played two seasons in BC, Canada, where he compiled 30 goals in just two seasons.  He led the entire league in goals his first year, and was elected to the All-Star team where he started against the Scottish Premier team Hearts.

JV Orange Coach: David Crockett

Coach Crockett holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from Midwestern State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.  This will be his 10th year coaching athletics in Texas public schools. Coach Crockett has 6 years of Varsity coaching experience as well as 3 years as an assistant in Katy ISD.  He has previously coached at Katy High School.  He has one state tournament appearance (Katy, 2008).  Coach Crockett played his high school career at Katy High School, served as team captain, leading his team in goals his senior year. He was also a member of the Houston Hurricane soccer club. Coach Crockett finished his playing career at Midwestern State University where he was a four year starter and won three conference championships. Coach Crockett is married to his wife Amy and they have two kids; Holden and Parker.

JV Blue Coach: Jay Kolkman

Coach Kolkman holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in from Western Illinois University where he studied Physical Education and Health Science.  This will be his 13th year coaching athletics in Texas public schools, and his 11th year coaching sub-varsity boys soccer in Katy ISD.  He has previously coached 4 years at Taylor High School and 6 years at Seven Lakes.  Coach Kolkman has coached at both the JV-A and JV-B levels at both schools.  He has coached his teams to 5 JVA and 4 JV-B district championships.  One of his JVA teams has also won the prestigious 32 team Brenham JV Tournament.  Coach Kolkman has often said his success should be attributed to the very talented and skilled players he has had the good fortune to work with.
