Great Start to the Season!!!

The Seven Lakes Spartans are off to a great start to the 2016-2017 season.  As a program, the Spartans are 17-4 so far this season.  The Freshman B started the season off winning consolation at the Cy-Park tournament.  After a close loss to the Nimitz Cougars, the Spartans bounced back with wins over Cy-Park and Morton Ranch.

The Sophomore team started off the season with a four point loss to a very good Cy-Springs team, but rebounded with three straight wins to get to the championship game of the Spring Branch ISD tournament.  The Spartans battled the whole game, but the Travis Tigers prevailed in the end.  Once again, the sophomores rebounded with a 30+ win over Cy-Fair.

The freshman A team is currently 5-1 on the season.  At the Fort Bend ISD tournament, the Spartans had a strong performance with wins over FB Austin and the host team Elkins.   In the semifinal game, the Spartans were matched up against a very good FB Bush team.  The Spartans held a small lead into the second half, but a late surge by the Bronco’s helped them to the victory.  The Bronco’s went on to win the championship, and the Spartans won third place with a victory over Ridge Point.

The Junior Varsity team has only had two games thus far, but has looked very strong going 2-0.  Their first game was a 17 point win over a Cy-Springs team who had gone 4-0 in the RCS JV Shoot-Out.  It was a very impressive job by the JV.  Their second win was a 20+ blowout of Cy-Fair.  The JV squad is looking very strong and are on pace to have a great season.

The Varsity is also 2-0 on the season thanks to great team defense.  With only Diego Martinez, Johnathon Howell, and Darius Alford back that played significant minutes from last year’s team, Coach Heston knows there will be some growing pains.   Even though there are many new faces for the Spartans, all of the players have won a district title at the sub varsity levels, so these guys know how to win.  That is “The Spartan Way!!”  Every day the young Spartans are improving with their goal to be playing their best basketball at the end of the year.

The Spartans have a road trip Tuesday, November 29th to battle the Cy-Lakes Spartans at all levels.  Then the Varsity will play in the KATY ISD Tournament December 1st-3rd.  To find the bracket, just click on the Schedule tab.  The Spartans next home games will be against Alief Taylor on December 16th.  See you at the game!!!
